Expanded Digital Offerings

We are happy to announce that we are now offering most of our releases in multiple digital formats. We began offering our releases in Variable Bit Rate MP3 format about 2 years ago. Since then it has become increasingly clear that many people would prefer to have access to our releases in higher quality encodings. Therefore, we have now made them available in the FLAC lossless format as well as 320 Kbps MP3 format. Both of these formats now feature the album cover artwork embedded in the audio file meta data as a convenience.

Unlike many sites, we are not charging customers extra for these higher quality encodings, and as usual, anyone who buys a physical copy an album (e.g. LP or CD) will have free instant access to the any of these high quality digital formats.

We are aslo preparing to announce a series of digital-only releases will form a new section of the Alien8 Recordings web store. We are launching this new feature to be able to offer music that might otherwise remain unavailable. Our first digital only release is by a trio that features the two founding members of Shalabi Effect, Anthony Seck and Sam Shalabi, who are joined by percussionist John Heward on this outing. This digital-only EP runs 22 minutes and recalls the first couple of releases by the mother ship Shalabi Effect.
