Artist Details: Devin Sarno and G.E. Stinson

Devin Sarno began CRIB in early 1990 as a solo bass sound project focusing on improvised subsonics. Over the course of a decade, the music has evolved from high volume feedback experimentation to a sonic examination of the meditative properties of low-end drone music. (In 2003, the CRIB moniker was retired & Sarno now performs & records under his own name). Sarno was a founding member of the seminal L.A. art rock band Waldo The Dog Faced Boy. As a bassist, Sarno has collaborated/recorded with many diverse acts including: Nels Cline, Thurston Moore, Joe Baiza, Mike Watt, Jack Brewer, Z’EV, Jason Kahn, Petra Haden, that dog, Abby Travis, Danny Frankel, Jeff Gauthier, Tom Surgal, Upsilon Acrux, Carla Bozulich, Brandon LaBelle, Vincent Gallo and others.

G.E. Stinson: Birthplace: Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Early life: migratory nomadic. Chicago at 13: hears Bo Diddley on car radio, purchases guitar. Learns to play blues listening to Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, etc. Works /hangs out with Cash McCall, Willie Dixon, etc. ‘60s erupt. Flirts with success as blues rock guitarist. Experiments with other music forms. Starts learning Charlie Parker tunes. Miles Davis’ “Bitches Brew” alters direction. Starts improvising. 1974: co- founds Shadowfax. Relocates to Los Angeles. Success and eventual dissatisfaction. 1989: jettisons into Los Angeles underground music community. Still refining extended technique, frequency manipulation and laptop pulse programming.
